3rd Title Fight Added to UFC 214
UFC 214 is already a stacked card packed full of fan favorite fights, and it just got even bigger. UFC Welterweight Champion Tyron Woodley announced on UFC Tonight that he will be facing Demian Maia on July 29th, adding a third championship bout to the card. The winner of Woodley vs. Maia will go on to fight the legendary Georges St-Pierre.
Daniel Cormier will be rematching Jon Jones; a grudge match that has been stewing since Jones’ suspension over a year ago. Not much needs to be said about this fight – MMA fans have been looking forward to seeing this rematch since Cormier vs Jones 1.
Also on the card will be Cris Cyborg fighting Tonya Evinger for the Women’s Featherweight title. Cyborg was initially scheduled to face Invicta FC Featherweight Champion, Megan Anderson, but the fight was canceled almost as fast as it was booked. Anderson pulled out due to personal matters.
Tonya Evinger, the current Invicta FC Bantamweight Champion, also recently stepped in for Megan Anderson and is moving up a weight class to face Helena Kolesnyk at Invicta FC 24 at the Scottish Rite Temple in Kansas City, Missouri, on July 15th.
Tonya is currently on a ten fight win streak and the UFC Featherweight title fight will be her UFC debut. Not too shabby!
